Athletic Teams |
St. Agnes Academy offers ten different sports, in three different seasons.
The Fall sports are: Cross Country, Golf, Volleyball, and Water Polo. The Winter Sports are: Basketball, Soccer, and Swimming. The Spring sports are: Golf, Lacrosse, Softball, Tennis and Track and Field. |
Students may try out for one team per season, so each athlete may play up to three sports per year. A student may not play for two teams within the same season, as practice times and competitions would conflict.
Each sport hosts two teams, a Varsity and a Junior Varsity Team, and in Volleyball, Basketball, and Soccer, SAA has a team devoted just for the Freshmen. Freshmen are not limited to the Freshmen Team. If their skills merit it, they can elevate to the JV or even to the Varsity level in their first year.
St. Agnes is affiliated with TAPPS, the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, the largest private school organization in Texas. Although SAA plays against many of the top 5A and 4A public schools in each sport, our district competition is against other TAPPS schools in our area. Bi-District, Regional, and State competitions are designated and run by TAPPS for all member schools.
Practices for all sports at St. Agnes are generally after school, with an occasional morning slot on a need dependent situation. Sports that take place off campus (water polo, swimming, golf, lacrosse, and tennis) have transportation to and from practices and competitions supplied by St. Agnes. |
