St. Agnes Academy's visionary plan for the future continues to become reality with construction continuing on the 18-acre athletic complex at the corner of Bellaire Boulevard and Fondren Road. Three regulation fields for field hockey, soccer and lacrosse, and one regulation softball field are in development. Property infrastructure, including sidewalks, parking lots, drainage, lighting and security, is a priority installment, along with the construction of two concession stands. A grand opening for the complex is slated at the start of 2012.
"The SAA philosophy is a holistic approach to educating young women," said John Brennan, a SAA parent and chair of the Academy's Athletic Task Force. "State-of-the-art facilities in art, athletics and science are necessary to accomplish the goal of preparing our future leaders. The competition to be accepted at leading colleges is very intense and we want to be sure we give the young women of SAA the exposure to the arts and athletics that will help them get into the college of their choice."
The St. Agnes tradition of Dominican excellence - by providing young women well-rounded academic preparation coupled with an opportunity to experience extracurricular opportunities and leadership roles, alongside a focus on health and wellness - is at the core of the Academy's plan for the future.
