Earth Week
April 24-27, 2012

As part of the Dominican mission, we dedicate an entire week every spring to discerning more about humankind's complex relationship with Planet Earth while renewing our commitment to be better stewards of God's awesome Creation.
During Earth Week, students participate in a series of activities and learning sessions sponsored by the Academy's Green Club - including making "dirt" cakes in the Courtyard, a lunchtime Organic Food Fest, an incandescent light-bulb exchange for environmentally-friendly CFL bulbs, and battery and cartridge recycling programs. Students annually make tie-dye t-shirts during Earth Week and create their own living bouquets of beautiful flowers. Club members also sponsor an eco-related art display in the school's Rotunda and Courtyard. Past Earth Weeks have focused on the climate crisis/global warming, conservation and recycling, and how we as community members can "go green" throughout the year.
If you would like to help plan for Earth Week, join the Green Club today!
