  Independent School Entrance Exam

The Janaury 28, 2012 ISEE testing at St. Agnes Academy is now full. To register to take the ISEE at another school or on a different date, visit www.iseetest.org or call 1-800-446-0320.  Please note that we do not take walk-ins at this test location - all students must be pre-registered.

For those students registered to take the ISEE at St. Agnes on Saturday, January 28, please plan to arrive no later than 8:00 a.m. for check-in at the SAA Library.  Testing will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Students who arrive later than 8:30 a.m. will not be allowed to test that day.  Students should bring their verification letter or e-mail, several No. 2 pencils and two blue or black pens. Snacks and beverages are allowed during breaks in the testing for those students who wish to bring them.  Cell phones are not permitted in the testing area and should be left at home.  Testing will conclude at approximately 11:45 a.m.  Students can be picked up outside the administrative entrance upon dismissal.

All applicants are required to submit scores from a high school entrance exam in order to be considered for admission.  St. Agnes administers the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). The ISEE is a three-hour admission test that consists of three parts:

  1. Carefully constructed and standardized verbal and quantitative ability tests that measure your capability for learning.
  2. Reading comprehension and mathematics achievement tests that provide specific information about your strengths and weakness in those areas.
  3. An essay section.

The ISEE evaluates not only your level of reading, but also your ability to comprehend material drawn from both the sciences and social studies. The test preparation book What to Expect on the ISEE is available free online here.

Registering for the ISEE

January 7, 2012 is the registration deadline for the ISEE administration at St. Agnes Academy on January 28, 2012.  Availability is limited, so registering well in advance of the deadline is recommended.  Students can take the ISEE at another location, but should take it no later than January 28, 2012 if possible.  You may register for the ISEE in one of four ways: by phone at 1-800-446-0320, online at www.iseetest.org, or by mail or fax using the registration form found in the ISEE Student Guide in your admissions packet. The St. Agnes Academy school code is 443420.

The St. Agnes Merit Scholarship is awarded to five incoming ninth graders who take the ISEE at St. Agnes and achieve the five highest scores. Winners are notified in March by a letter signed by the head of school. These students receive an $8,000 scholarship which will be distributed over four years provided the student retains a grade-point average of at least a 4.0. In order to qualify for the merit scholarship, students must take the ISEE at St. Agnes on January 28, 2012.  Students on financial aid can receive the scholarship in addition to their financial aid grant.

Students applying to other Catholic high schools that administer the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) may submit their HSPT scores in lieu of the ISEE.  When taking the HSPT, please request that your testing site forward your results to St. Agnes.  Fee waivers for the ISEE are available through the St. Agnes Academy Office of Admission for those students in need of assistance with the testing fee. Please contact the Office of Admission no later than December 15, 2011 for more information regarding the fee waiver.
